The Indian film industry is in mourning following the death of veteran actor Dharmendra, who passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025, at the age of 89. The legendary actor, often called the "He-Man of Bollywood," died at his Mumbai residence after a brief illness.
In the wake of this loss, members of the film fraternity have been visiting Dharmendra's residence to pay their respects and offer condolences to his family. Among those who were seen arriving at the Deol residence on Tuesday, November 25, were Saif Ali Khan and Karisma Kapoor.
Saif Ali Khan, dressed in a simple white kurta-pajama, was seen maintaining a low profile as he arrived to offer his support. His presence underscored his respect for the industry's veterans. Karisma Kapoor, embodying grace in an elegant white suit, also made a heartfelt appearance. Her gesture honored Dharmendra and the warm ties her family shared with him through decades of cinema. Kunal Kapoor, son of Shashi Kapoor, also visited the residence to pay homage, symbolizing the Kapoor clan's long-standing camaraderie with Dharmendra.
Dharmendra's death has prompted an outpouring of tributes from fans, colleagues, and political figures. Many have fondly remembered his contributions to Indian cinema and his warm personality. Dharmendra had been admitted to Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital in late October after complaining of breathlessness. He was discharged from the hospital and spent his final days at his Juhu bungalow under medical care.
Dharmendra Kewal Krishan Deol was born on December 8, 1935. He made his debut in 1960 with "Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere" and went on to star in over 300 films during his illustrious 65-year career. He was widely regarded as one of the most successful actors in Hindi cinema, starring in the highest number of hit films. Some of his most memorable films include "Sholay", "Satyakam", and "Chupke Chupke".
Beyond his acting career, Dharmendra also served as a member of the 15th Lok Sabha, representing the Bikaner constituency in Rajasthan from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In 2012, the Government of India honored him with the Padma Bhushan for his contributions to the arts.
Dharmendra is survived by his wives, Prakash Kaur and Hema Malini, and his children, including actors Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, and Esha Deol. His last rites were performed at the Pawan Hans crematorium, with his sons Sunny and Bobby Deol performing the ceremonies. Karan Deol, Sunny Deol's son, was seen collecting Dharmendra's ashes from the crematorium on Tuesday morning.
