Palash Muchhal, an Indian music composer, singer, songwriter, and filmmaker, has recently been in the news due to his engagement with Indian women's cricket star Smriti Mandhana. The wedding, initially scheduled for November 23, 2025, has been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances.
Born on May 22, 1995, in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, Palash Muchhal hails from a musically inclined Marwari family. He is the younger brother of Palak Muchhal, a well-known Bollywood playback singer celebrated for her charitable work. Palash's early exposure to music came from accompanying his sister to musical events, nurturing his passion for music composition. He received training in Hindustani classical music and began experimenting with compositions in his teens.
Palash Muchhal made his Bollywood debut as a music composer in 2014 with the film Dishkiyaoon. He has since composed music for several films, including Bhoothnath Returns, Sweety Weds NRI, and Miss Tanakpur Haazir Ho. Some of his popular tracks include "Party Toh Banti Hai" and "Tu Hi Hai Aashiqui". Besides composing, Muchhal has also directed over 40 music videos for major labels such as T-Series and Zee Music. He is currently directing a film titled Raju Bajewala, featuring Avika Gor and Chandan Roy. In 2022, he directed the film Ardh, which earned him the Dada Saheb Phalke Excellence Award for Best Debut Direction. Before venturing into music composition and filmmaking, Palash also acted in Ashutosh Gowariker's Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey.
Palash and Smriti Mandhana had been dating since 2019 and made their relationship public in July 2024. He had even shared a clip of his proposal to Smriti at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Following India's World Cup victory, Palash posted a photo of Smriti holding the cup, and fans spotted a new tattoo on his forearm reading "SM18", a tribute to her initials and jersey number.
The wedding, which was set to take place on November 23, 2025, in Sangli, Maharashtra, was called off after Smriti Mandhana's father, Shrinivas Mandhana, was hospitalized due to health issues. According to reports, Shrinivas Mandhana was admitted to the hospital after experiencing heart attack-like symptoms. Smriti's business manager, Tuhin Mishra, stated that the cricketer decided to postpone the wedding to prioritize her father's recovery. Palash's mother, Amita Muchhal, revealed that Palash is very close to Smriti's father and insisted on postponing the wedding until he recovered. Following this, Palash was also briefly hospitalized due to stress.
Palak Muchhal, Palash's sister, issued a statement requesting privacy for the families during this sensitive time. While Shrinivas Mandhana has been discharged from the hospital, the wedding plans remain on hold.
Estimates place Palash Muchhal's net worth between ₹20 crore and ₹41 crore. His sources of income include music composition, royalties, direction, acting, and live shows. Smriti Mandhana and Palash Muchhal are considered one of India's wealthiest and most influential couples in the entertainment and sports industries.
