He will be attending the event in Goa to promote his upcoming film, 'Dhurandhar,' a highly anticipated action-packed thriller.
The closing ceremony will be held at the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium in Panjim, Goa. The 'Dhurandhar' team aims to leverage the grand event to enhance the film's visibility and generate buzz among media representatives and film enthusiasts. According to sources close to the production, the IFFI closing ceremony provides an ideal platform to discuss the film and showcase its potential.
Ranveer Singh is expected to perform songs from 'Dhurandhar' during the ceremony. Director Aditya Dhar and other cast members will also be present. The film boasts a star-studded cast, including Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Sara Arjun. 'Dhurandhar' is backed by Jio Studios and B62 Studios.
'Dhurandhar,' directed, written, and produced by Aditya Dhar, is scheduled for release on December 5, 2025. The film has already created significant buzz, with its trailer receiving both positive and critical responses. Some viewers have expressed concerns regarding the film's extreme and gory violence.
In response to the criticism, director Suparn S Varma defended 'Dhurandhar,' highlighting what he sees as a "double standard" in how audiences perceive violence in international and Hindi cinema. Varma argued that violence is a cinematic tool that can be used effectively when the story demands it.
The 56th IFFI commenced on November 20, 2025, and will continue until November 28, 2025. This year, the festival began with a carnival parade instead of a formal inaugural ceremony. The opening film was "The Blue Trail" by Gabriel Mascaro. The festival is showcasing over 240 films from 81 countries, including world premieres. Japan is the 'Country of Focus' for the festival, with Spain as the Partner Country and Australia as the Spotlight Country.
The closing ceremony will also feature a felicitation of actor Rajinikanth, recognizing his contributions to cinema. The festival is celebrating the centenaries of cinematic legends such as Guru Dutt, Raj Khosla, and Ritwik Ghatak with special retrospectives. The closing film will be the Thai supernatural black comedy-drama "A Useful Ghost" by Ratchapoom Boonbunchachoke.
The 56th IFFI continues its legacy as South Asia's only FIAPF-accredited competitive film festival. This year's edition includes various sections such as International Competition, Best Debut Feature Film, and the ICFT UNESCO Gandhi Medal. Special categories feature Macabre Dreams, Docu-Montage, Experimental cinema, and Restored classics. The festival serves as a global platform for cinematic excellence, innovation, and networking.
