Mumbai, November 28, 2025 – Veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra Kewal Krishan Deol, affectionately known as Dharmendra, passed away on November 24, 2025, at the age of 89. The legendary actor, often hailed as Bollywood's "He-Man," had a career spanning over six decades and 300 films. His death has left a void in the Indian film industry, with tributes pouring in from colleagues, fans, and admirers.
Following Dharmendra's demise, many Bollywood personalities visited the Deol residence in Juhu to offer their condolences. Among them was Ahmed Khan, a prominent choreographer and director, who shared his experience of visiting the Deol family during this difficult time.
In an exclusive statement, Ahmed Khan recalled the somber atmosphere at the Deol residence. "It was a very emotional moment," Khan said. "The guardian of the family was not there. It was palpable that the family was grieving and trying to cope with the immense loss."
Khan, along with numerous other celebrities including Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, and Govinda, attended the last rites held at the Pawan Hans Crematorium. The cremation was attended by close family members and industry colleagues who paid their final respects to the veteran actor.
Dharmendra had been admitted to Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital earlier in November due to age-related health issues. Although he was discharged and continued treatment at home, his health deteriorated. Earlier reports of his death had circulated, prompting his wife, Hema Malini, and daughter, Esha Deol, to dismiss them as false and request privacy for the family.
Dharmendra's career began in 1960 with "Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere". He went on to star in numerous critically acclaimed and commercially successful films, including "Phool Aur Pathhar", "Sholay", "Chupke Chupke", and "Dharam Veer". His contribution to Indian cinema is immeasurable, and he holds the record for starring in the highest number of hit films in Hindi cinema.
Beyond acting, Dharmendra also ventured into film production and politics. His production house, Vijayta Films, launched the careers of his sons, Sunny and Bobby Deol. He also served as a Member of Parliament from Bikaner from 2004 to 2009.
The Deol family is planning to hold a prayer meet later this week to honor Dharmendra's memory. The location is yet to be finalized, but the event is expected to be attended by many from the film industry.
Ameesha Patel, who starred opposite Sunny Deol in "Gadar," shared her memories of Dharmendra, recalling his warmth and affection. She mentioned that he always treated her like a daughter and reminisced about a film they were supposed to do together.
The film fraternity continues to mourn the loss of the "He-Man" of Bollywood, remembering him not only for his iconic roles but also for his humility, charisma, and kind nature.
