Bigg Boss 19: Salman Khan's Touching Dharmendra Tribute Reflects on the Industry's Profound Loss and Dharmendra's Legacy.

On the recent episode of Bigg Boss 19, host Salman Khan took a moment to pay tribute to the legendary actor Dharmendra, who passed away on November 24, 2025, at the age of 89. The actor's death has been felt deeply by the Indian film industry and his fans.

During the "Weekend Ka Vaar" episode, Salman Khan paused to acknowledge the industry's loss. While not directly naming Dharmendra, Salman expressed his sorrow, stating that the past week had been difficult for the nation, the fans, and the film fraternity. He said, "This week the industry faced a huge loss… I guess aap samajh rahe hai main kinki baat kar raha hu (I believe you understand who I am referring to)". He wished he didn't have to host Bigg Boss during such a sorrowful time but accepted that "life goes on".

Dharmendra, born in Punjab, had a career spanning over six decades, with over 300 films across various genres. He was known for his versatility and charm, becoming a beloved icon in Indian cinema. Salman Khan's tribute served as a moment of silence and respect for Dharmendra's contributions.

Salman Khan had a personal connection with Dharmendra, having shared screen space in the 1998 film Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya. Their bond extended beyond their professional relationship, as Dharmendra's association with the Khan family goes back five decades when Salim Khan co-wrote the iconic film Sholay with Javed Akhtar. Dharmendra's portrayal of Veeru in Sholay remains one of Bollywood's most celebrated roles.

Following Dharmendra's death, many Bollywood celebrities visited the Deol residence to offer their condolences. Salman Khan also paid his respects by attending Dharmendra's cremation and prayer meet.

Shah Rukh Khan also honored Dharmendra with a heartfelt social media post, calling him a father figure and expressing the irreplaceable loss for cinema and film enthusiasts.

Dharmendra's prayer meet was attended by his first family, including sons Sunny and Bobby Deol, daughters Ajeeta and Vijeta, and grandchildren. However, his second wife, Hema Malini, and their daughters, Esha and Ahaana Deol, were absent. A large portrait of Dharmendra with the message "We'll Miss You" was displayed, and singers performed his iconic songs.
