Balakrishna Addresses Goat Beheading by Fans Before 'Akhanda 2' Release: 'It's Unacceptable Behavior'

Ahead of the highly anticipated release of "Akhanda 2: Thaandavam," Telugu actor and politician Nandamuri Balakrishna has publicly addressed the controversial practice of some fans beheading goats during movie releases, stating firmly, "It's not okay". The statement comes after an incident earlier this year where an FIR (First Information Report) was filed against a group of his fans for sacrificing a goat outside a theatre during the release of "Daaku Maharaaj".

Balakrishna made the appeal at a promotional event for "Akhanda 2," urging his followers to refrain from such acts of animal sacrifice. "I must tell you something. Every region has its tradition, with some of you beheading goats during movie releases. Please don't do that," he stated. He emphasized compassion for all living beings, stating, "It is not okay to harm another living being. Understand that they also have a right to live. We must treat four-legged animals with as much respect as two-legged humans. I hope you will heed my request".

The disturbing incident involving the beheading of a goat by fans and smearing its blood on posters of "Daaku Maharaaj" in Tirupati earlier this year sparked outrage. Following the incident, PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) India filed a complaint, leading to the FIR against five individuals.

Balakrishna's message has been received positively by many. One user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote, "Nice message. No point killing innocent animals. Anyone with a pet would know the pain". Another user echoed the sentiment, condemning the practice of killing animals outside theaters.

"Akhanda 2: Thaandavam," directed by Boyapati Sreenu, is scheduled to be released on December 5, 2025. The film is a sequel to the 2021 blockbuster "Akhanda," which was a massive commercial success, grossing over ₹150 crores worldwide. The sequel was initially slated for a Dussehra release but was postponed due to post-production work.

The film stars Nandamuri Balakrishna, reprising his role as the powerful Aghora. The cast also includes Samyuktha Menon, Aadhi Pinisetty, and Harshali Malhotra.

The recently released teaser of "Akhanda 2: Thaandavam" showcases Balakrishna in a fierce avatar, battling evil forces with divine intervention. The film promises a spiritual and action-packed experience, with Balakrishna's character engaging in a dual battle against external threats to the nation and dark sorcery.

Balakrishna has stated that "Akhanda 2" is all about safeguarding Sanatana Dharma, with Aghoras playing a key role in protecting it.

"Akhanda 2: Thaandavam" is produced by Raam Achanta and Gopi Achanta under the 14 Reels Plus banner and is presented by M Tejaswini Nandamuri. The film's music is composed by Thaman S, with C Ramprasad and Santoshh D Detakae handling cinematography.

As the release date approaches, Balakrishna's strong stance against animal sacrifice highlights a growing awareness and sensitivity towards animal welfare, even within deeply rooted cultural traditions.
