Mumbai witnessed a surge of enthusiasm for fitness and mental health awareness at the Mumbai Cyclothon 2025, held on Sunday, November 30th at the MMRDA Grounds in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). The event, dedicated to promoting the importance of mental well-being, saw active participation from Bollywood celebrities Jackie Shroff, Suniel Shetty, and Mahima Chaudhary, alongside over 6,000 cycling enthusiasts.

The "Ride to Mpower Mumbai Cyclothon 2025," organized by the Loha Foundation in association with the Sports Authority of India (SAI) as part of the Fit India Movement, aimed to unite Mumbai's community to champion mental wellness and drive sustainable change. The cyclothon featured multiple ride categories, including 100 km, 50 km, 25 km, 10 km, and a special Wheelchair Ride, catering to riders of all ages and abilities. The event commenced between 4:00 AM and 8:30 AM, starting from Bandra Kurla Complex.

Bollywood celebrities played a significant role in amplifying the message of mental health awareness. Jackie Shroff flagged off the cyclothon early in the morning. He also brought a snack plant to the event, sending a message of environmental protection alongside physical and mental health. According to Shroff, going outside is only worthwhile if you can get good oxygen.

Suniel Shetty emphasized the importance of consistent effort for overall wellness. "Wellness costs far less than illness," Shetty stated, advocating for making health a daily habit. He highlighted that mental health's secret lies within the family system, where the wisdom of elders benefits the youth. Shetty also encouraged people to avoid pollution-causing vehicles and opt for cycling, as it reduces pollution and improves health.

Mahima Chaudhary addressed the media, commending the organizers for promoting cycling, which she believes is crucial for both physical and mental well-being. She stressed the need for proper cycling tracks to ensure the safety of participants and encouraged young people to participate in social programs for mental development and the release of "happy hormones". Chaudhary noted the presence of over 7,000 participants, including several CEOs from major companies.

Neerja Birla, Founder and Chairperson of Mpower and the Aditya Birla Education Trust, emphasized the deep interconnection between mental health and physical well-being. Birla stated that the Ride to Mpower Mumbai Cyclothon is a movement to take the conversation about mental health beyond closed rooms and make it a shared social priority.

The event offered participants cycling jerseys, medals, goodies, personalized photos, E-Timing Certificates, and on-course medical and hydration support. Highlights included mental health awareness zones, Zumba sessions, live music, and a healthy breakfast. A special "Charity BIB" category supported mental health services. A special commemorative cancellation stamp for the Ride to Mpower Mumbai Cyclothon was released by India Post, unveiled by Suniel Shetty, Mahima Chaudhary, and Deepshikha Birla, Head of the North Division of India Post.

Krishna Prakash, IPS, Hon. Race Director & Chief Advisor, highlighted cycling as a statement of endurance, discipline, and community, celebrating the spirit of the event while emphasizing mental wellness.

The Mumbai Cyclothon 2025 builds upon previous initiatives promoting fitness and health in the city. Events like 'FIT India Cycles on Sunday' rallies and 'Ride to Mpower' cyclothons have been regularly organized to encourage citizens to embrace active lifestyles.

The success of the Mumbai Cyclothon 2025 demonstrates a growing awareness and commitment to mental health and physical well-being in the community. By bringing together celebrities, fitness enthusiasts, and citizens from all walks of life, the event effectively promoted the message that a healthy mind begins with a healthy body.
