Following the death of veteran actor Dharmendra on November 24, 2025, at the age of 89, discussions surrounding his inheritance have emerged. Dharmendra, fondly known as Bollywood's "He-Man," leaves behind a cinematic legacy and a considerable estate estimated between ₹400 to ₹450 crore. This includes a luxurious Mumbai bungalow, a 100-acre farmhouse in Lonavala, and a chain of eateries across India.
Dharmendra's family includes his first wife, Prakash Kaur, with whom he has two sons, Sunny and Bobby Deol, and two daughters, Ajeeta and Vijeta. His second wife, Hema Malini, has two daughters, Esha and Ahana Deol. This family structure has naturally led to speculation about the division of Dharmendra's assets among his six children.
Amidst the mourning period, rumors of disputes between Sunny and Bobby Deol and their half-sisters, Esha and Ahana, regarding the inheritance began to circulate online. However, a close family source has refuted these claims, calling them "rubbish and very ill-timed". The source emphasized that "No one is a pauper here. There will be no drama, no dispute".
According to the family source, Sunny Deol is committed to honoring his father's wishes and ensuring that Esha and Ahana receive their rightful share of the inheritance. "[...] Sunny will not keep them out of the family inheritance," the source stated. "Right now, he is too bereaved to think about the road ahead. But one thing is for sure: Esha and Ahana will be part of the Deol family, as their father would have wished". The source also mentioned that Hema Malini and her daughters are not inclined to make any demands on Dharmendra's property.
Under Indian inheritance law, all six of Dharmendra's children are legally entitled to claim his money and property. Unless Dharmendra left a will excluding any of his heirs, his assets are expected to be divided equally among them.
The legal standing of Hema Malini as Dharmendra's second wife adds another layer of complexity. As Dharmendra reportedly did not divorce Prakash Kaur, the legal validity of his marriage to Hema Malini could be questioned. However, regardless of Hema Malini's eligibility, Esha and Ahana are still entitled to claim their shares as Class I heirs to their father's self-acquired assets.
Dharmendra's real estate portfolio includes multiple residential and commercial properties in Maharashtra valued at over ₹17 crore, along with agricultural and non-agricultural land holdings. He also owned the Vijayta Films production house and ventured into the hospitality business with the Garam Dharam dhaba chain and the He-Man restaurant in Haryana.
While the exact details of the inheritance division remain private, it is clear that Sunny Deol intends to uphold his father's wishes and ensure that Esha and Ahana Deol are included in the family inheritance.
