Chandrachur Singh faces ancestral property dispute, alleging secret sale of family haveli after 'Josh' success.

Chandrachur Singh, best known for his roles in the 1990s hits like "Maachis" and "Josh" alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai, is currently embroiled in a dispute over his ancestral property in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. The actor, accompanied by his mother, Krishna Kumari Devi, has approached the district authorities, alleging that some family members are attempting to illegally take possession of their ancestral assets.

Singh and his mother visited the District Magistrate's office in Aligarh on Wednesday, December 3rd, to submit a formal complaint and detailed information regarding the property dispute. He met with DM Sanjeev Ranjan and requested official intervention to prevent any unlawful encroachment. The District Magistrate has confirmed receipt of the complaint, and an investigation is currently underway.

The dispute centers around the family's sprawling ancestral estate, which includes a haveli dating back to the 19th century. Singh expressed his concerns that "our ancestral haveli is being surreptitiously sold". He claims that following his uncle's death, a conspiracy was hatched to sell off their ancestral haveli. Singh spent his childhood in Aligarh, where his entire family lived together at the time. The family mansion, known as The Haveli Jalalpur Estate 1855, also called Kalyan Bhavan, is said to be valued at crores of rupees.

Chandrachur Singh comes from a family with strong political and royal ties. His father, Baldev Singh, was a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) representing Khair in Uttar Pradesh. His mother, Krishna Kumari Devi, is a princess and the daughter of the Maharaja of Bolangir in Odisha.

Singh's career began in the mid-1990s, debuting in "Tere Mere Sapne" in 1996. He gained widespread recognition for his role in Gulzar's "Maachis" the same year, winning the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. He went on to star in several successful films, including "Daag: The Fire", "Kya Kehna", and "Josh". More recently, Singh has appeared in projects like the web series "Aarya", "Cuttputlli," and the upcoming film "Bayaan".

Prior to his acting career, Singh completed his education at The Doon School in Dehradun and St. Stephen's College in Delhi. He initially aimed for a career in civil services and prepared for the UPSC examinations. He also taught music and history at Vasant Valley School and The Doon School.
