Dhurandhar First Look: Ranveer Singh's Intense Performance Anchors This Engaging and Promising New Film

Dhurandhar First Review: Ranveer Singh Delivers 'Most Intense' Performance In This 'Engaging' Film

Initial reviews for Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar, which stars Ranveer Singh, are surfacing, and they paint an exciting picture of a "brutal cinematic experience". The film, which is slated to release on December 5, 2025, has already generated considerable buzz, with many praising Ranveer Singh's performance as one of the most intense of his career.

Dhurandhar is described as a high-adrenaline, patriotic action drama that captivates from the opening scene. According to early reviews, Ranveer Singh's portrayal of Major Mohit showcases grit, emotion, and raw power in every scene. The film reportedly strikes a balance between mass action, strong emotions, and a tight narrative, maintaining a consistent pace throughout. Action sequences are described as realistic, grounded, and beautifully choreographed, especially the combat and rescue scenes. The background score is also said to elevate the viewing experience, creating goosebump-inducing moments during the climax.

The film has a talented ensemble cast, including Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Sara Arjun. The cinematography is sharp and impactful, capturing both the chaos of battle and the emotional depth of the characters. While the story follows a familiar patriotic arc, the presentation is stylish, bold, and larger-than-life, making it extremely engaging.

Directed by Aditya Dhar and produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, Dhurandhar is inspired by real-life incidents, geopolitical conflicts, and covert operations of RAW. Specifically, it draws inspiration from Operation Lyari, a government-led crackdown on local gangs and crime syndicates in the Lyari area of Karachi, Pakistan. Ranveer Singh plays a ruthless undercover agent known only as "The Wrath of God". Sanjay Dutt's character is based on Pakistani police officer Chaudhry Aslam Khan, while Akshaye Khanna's character is based on gangster Rehman Dakait, and Arjun Rampal's character is based on Pakistani militant Ilyas Kashmiri. R. Madhavan will be playing National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.

Dhurandhar had been embroiled in a legal controversy after accusations arose that the film's plot mirrored the life of the late Major Mohit Sharma. However, director Aditya Dhar has clarified that the film is not based on Major Sharma's life. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has also cleared the film for release after a re-examination.

The film has been granted an 'A' certificate and has a runtime of 3 hours and 34 minutes. Dhurandhar is reportedly the longest Bollywood film in 17 years. The film is also expected to have a sequel which may arrive in the Summer of 2026.

Despite high expectations, Dhurandhar has seen disappointing advance bookings. Nevertheless, it is expected to deliver Ranveer Singh's biggest post-COVID opening, surpassing 83's ₹12.64 crore start. As of recent data, the movie has earned approximately ₹2.5 crore in advance bookings.

Overall, early reviews suggest that Dhurandhar has high potential for success, with a strong cast and a bold story that aims to deliver a thrilling blend of action and emotion.
