Tamil superstar Suriya has officially commenced his 47th film project, teaming up with Malayalam director Jithu Madhavan, known for his hit movies Romancham and Aavesham. This marks Madhavan's debut in Tamil cinema. The movie, tentatively titled Suriya 47, was launched today in Chennai with a traditional pooja ceremony.

The pooja ceremony was attended by the main cast and crew, including Suriya, Nazriya Fahadh, and Naslen. Director Jithu Madhavan and music composer Sushin Shyam were also present. Pictures from the event, shared by Jithu Madhavan's wife Shifina, went viral on social media.

Nazriya Fahadh has been confirmed as the female lead, while Neslen will play another key role. Sushin Shyam, who worked with Madhavan on Romancham and Aavesham, will be the music director for the film. This project marks Shyam's debut in Tamil cinema. Unni Palode, known for his work as an associate to leading Malayalam cinematographers, will make his debut as a full-fledged cinematographer with this film.

Suriya 47 is backed by Zhagaram Studios, which is believed to be Suriya's newly launched production banner.

Early reports suggest that Suriya might be playing a police officer in the film. If this is the case, it would be Suriya's return to the role of a cop after eight years; he last played a police officer in Singam 3 (2017). The film is expected to be a "quirky and high-octane cop-action narrative".

The collaboration also brings Suriya and Nazriya together, a pairing that was previously planned for Sudha Kongara's shelved project, which later evolved into Parasakthi.

Suriya is currently filming for his 46th film with director Venky Atluri. He is also awaiting the release of Karuppu, directed by RJ Balaji, in which he plays a lawyer who fights against social injustice.
