Mumbai - In a significant development, filmmaker Vikram Bhatt has been arrested in connection with a ₹30 crore fraud case. The arrest was made in Mumbai following a coordinated effort between the Rajasthan Police and the Mumbai Police. The case involves allegations of financial irregularities related to an In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) scheme.
The arrest follows a complaint filed approximately 20 days prior, leading to the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) naming Bhatt, his wife Shwetambari Bhatt, and six others. A lookout notice had been issued seven days before the arrest, requiring all accused individuals to appear before the Udaipur Police by December 8 and preventing them from leaving the country without permission.
According to reports, the case originates from a complaint filed by Dr. Ajay Murdia, the owner of Udaipur's Indira Group of Companies. The allegations center around a purported financial fraud amounting to ₹30 crore.
Following the arrest, the Rajasthan Police are expected to seek a transit remand in Bandra Court to transfer Bhatt to Udaipur, where the investigation is currently underway. The police team apprehended Bhatt at Ganga Bhavan Apartments in Mumbai's Yari Road area, which is owned by his sister-in-law.
Vikram Bhatt, known for directing films like "Ghulam" and "Raaz," comes from a prominent Bollywood family. He is the brother of filmmaker and producer Mahesh Bhatt and the uncle of actresses Pooja and Alia Bhatt.
The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected to emerge as the Udaipur Police proceed with the case. This is a developing story, and more information will be added as it becomes available.
