NCT's Doyoung and Jungwoo have officially begun their mandatory military service, enlisting together on December 8, 2025. The two members of the popular K-pop group NCT (Neo Culture Technology) entered the Korea Army Training Center (KATC) to undergo basic military training. Doyoung will serve as an active-duty soldier in the Republic of Korea Army (ROKA), while Jungwoo will fulfill his duty as part of the military band.
SM Entertainment, NCT's agency, announced that there would be no special event held on the day of enlistment. The agency requested fans to refrain from visiting the site to ensure the safety of the many soldiers and their families who would also be present.
Fellow NCT members were present to send off Doyoung and Jungwoo. On NCT's social media, photos showed Johnny and Haechan sending off Doyoung, while Taeyong, Chenle, and Mark bid farewell to Jungwoo. The idols sported their new buzz cuts, a common practice for military service. Doyoung and Jungwoo also posed by making half a heart each, which combined to make one big heart when the photos were put together.
Doyoung, born Kim Dong-young on February 1, 1996, debuted as a member of NCT U in 2016. He is also a member of NCT 127 and NCT DoJaeJung. Jungwoo, born in 1998, joined NCT through NCT U in 2018 and is also a member of NCT 127 and NCT DoJaeJung.
Prior to his enlistment, Jungwoo prepared by cutting his blonde hair, and the salon staff arranged the cut hair to spell out "Doyoung Jungwoo Enlistment". He also held a small farewell party, receiving a cake with the message, "Doyoung, Jungwoo, stay healthy and let's meet again. Fighting!". Last month, Jungwoo released his first solo single, "Suga," and held his first solo fan meeting, "Golden Sugar Time," to bid farewell to fans.
Doyoung released a two-track single, "Promise," on December 9 at 6 p.m. KST as a parting gift for fans. The single features the title track "Promise" and "Whistle," which includes a guest appearance by BELLE of KISS OF LIFE. Doyoung also left a heartfelt message on Weverse, expressing his gratitude to NCTzens for their unwavering support.
With Doyoung and Jungwoo's enlistment, four members of NCT are currently serving in the military. Taeyong enlisted in the Navy in April 2024 and is scheduled to be discharged on December 14, 2025. Jaehyun enlisted in the Army military band in November 2024 and is expected to complete his service on May 3, 2026. Doyoung and Jungwoo are expected to be discharged on June 7, 2027.
