Park Si-hoo's Decade-Long Cinema Comeback: New Movie, Addressing Past Influencer Controversy After Years of Silence.

Park Si-hoo Returns To Cinema After A Decade, Breaks Silence On Influencer Controversy

After a decade-long absence from the silver screen, actor Park Si-hoo is making his comeback with the film "Choir of God," slated for release in December 2025. This marks his first film project since 2015, a significant return shadowed by recent allegations related to an influencer's marital issues.

Park Si-hoo addressed the media on December 8, 2025, at a press conference promoting "Choir of God". He acknowledged the resurfacing controversy, where an anonymous social media user accused him of playing a role in the breakdown of her marriage by introducing women to her ex-husband. The influencer claimed that Park's involvement led to her family's destruction.

"I have mixed feelings about discussing personal matters here," Park stated at the press event. "I apologize to the director and fellow actors". He firmly denied the accusations, stating they are untrue and currently under police investigation. Park's legal team at HyeMyung Law Firm has filed a defamation complaint against the influencer, citing violations of information protection laws. He conveyed that he would allow the legal process to address the matter and refrained from further discussion during the briefing.

"Choir of God," directed by Kim Hyung-hyeop, is a North Korea-themed film where Park Si-hoo plays Park Gyo-soon, a cold-blooded major in the North Korean State Security Department. Gyo-soon is tasked with forming a fake religious choir to generate foreign currency in the face of international sanctions. The film explores themes of political tension and personal transformation as Gyo-soon undergoes emotional changes throughout his mission. Actor Jeong Jin-woon, a member of the idol group 2AM, joins Park in the film, playing a rival officer.

The movie was filmed in locations like Mongolia and Hungary, with the cast enduring harsh conditions and temperatures plummeting close to minus 40 degrees Celsius. Jung Jin-woon joked that the challenging environment fostered camaraderie among the cast. The film's soundtrack includes Lim Young-woong's hit song "Love Always Runs Away," alongside original compositions. Han Jung-wan portrays a North Korean singer inspired by Lim, and a 12-member choir ensemble was selected after auditions.

Park Si-hoo's past controversies have often resurfaced, especially an accusation of sexual assault in 2013, which was later dropped after the accuser withdrew her complaint. He resumed his career in 2017 with the drama "Kingmaker: The Change of Destiny".

"Choir of God" is anticipated to be a critical juncture in Park Si-hoo's career as he aims to reconnect with audiences after a turbulent period. The film balances political tension with personal development, examining human topics through the prism of North Korea's limits on religious expression.
