Hema Malini and her daughter, Esha Deol, paid tribute to the late Bollywood legend Dharmendra at a prayer meet held in Delhi on Thursday. The solemn gathering honored the memory of Dharmendra, who passed away on November 24, 2025.
The prayer meet took place at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, where Hema Malini and Esha Deol were seen offering prayers. Ahana Deol, Hema and Dharmendra's younger daughter, also attended the service to pay her respects.
In a video captured by ANI, Hema Malini and Esha Deol were seen placing flower petals before a framed photo of Dharmendra as a heartfelt tribute. Both were visibly emotional as they bowed before the photo before entering the hall. Esha Deol was joined by her former husband, Bharat Takhtani. Ahana Deol attended the service with her husband, Vaibhav Vohra.
The prayer service was attended by several high-profile politicians, along with friends and family of the late actor. Among the attendees were Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, BJP MP Anurag Thakur, Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. Actor-politicians Ravi Kishan and Kangana Ranaut were also present to pay their respects.
This prayer meet marks the second organized by Hema Malini. The first prayer meet was held at her home last month, with only close friends and family members in attendance.
The prayer meet also followed what would have been Dharmendra's 90th birthday on December 8. Hema Malini shared an emotional note on social media, expressing her heartbreak and reminiscing about their life together. "Dharam ji. Happy birthday my dear heart. More than two weeks have passed since you left me heartbroken, slowly gathering up the pieces and trying to reconstruct my life, knowing that you will always be with me in spirit," she wrote. She also shared cherished photos and expressed gratitude for their daughters and the happy memories they created.
On Dharmendra's birthday, Esha Deol and Sunny Deol also remembered their father with moving posts. Esha posted nostalgic photos, while Sunny shared a video.
Hema Malini and Dharmendra were one of Bollywood's most beloved on-screen couples, starring in films like Sharafat, Tum Haseen Main Jawan, Naya Zamana, Seeta Aur Geeta, and Sholay. They married in 1980 and have two daughters, Esha and Ahana.
