Akshaye Khanna's School Days: Heartbreak Kid Status and Vinod Khanna's Wife's Frequent Visits, Recollections.

Akshaye Khanna, son of the legendary Vinod Khanna, has always maintained a quiet presence despite his Bollywood lineage. While known for his performances in films like "Border", "Dil Chahta Hai", and more recently, "Drishyam 2", glimpses into his personal life, particularly his childhood, remain rare.

Recently, anecdotes have surfaced offering a peek into Akshaye's school days, painting a picture of the actor as a young "heartbreak kid." According to a junior who attended the same school as Akshaye, the actor possessed a charm that made him quite popular among the girls. "Akshaye was definitely someone many of us had a crush on. He had this effortless way about him," the junior recalled. "Word around school was that he was a bit of a 'heartbreak kid,' but all in good fun, of course."

Adding another layer to these recollections is the mention of Vinod Khanna's second wife, Kavita Khanna. The junior revealed that Kavita was often seen visiting Akshaye at school. "I remember seeing Kavita Ji quite often. She seemed very involved and caring," the junior stated. Vinod Khanna had two sons, Akshaye and Rahul Khanna, with his first wife, Gitanjali, before marrying Kavita with whom he had a son and daughter, Sakshi and Shraddha Khanna.

Akshaye's relationship with his father was reportedly complex. Vinod Khanna's decision to leave his family and career at the peak of his success to follow spiritual guru Osho in the late 1970s undeniably had an impact. Akshaye himself admitted that as a child, he found it difficult to understand his father's choice to renounce everything. "To not only leave his family, but to take 'sanyaas' (renunciation)... It's a life-changing decision, which he felt that he needed to take at the time. As a five-year-old, it was impossible for me to understand it. I can understand it now," Akshaye had shared in an interview.

Despite any complexities, Akshaye respected his father's spiritual journey. He acknowledged that Vinod Khanna must have been profoundly moved to make such a significant decision, especially when he had achieved so much in life.

Although Akshaye debuted in "Himalay Putra" alongside his father, he consciously avoided working with Vinod Khanna in subsequent projects. He cited his father's commanding screen presence as a reason, admitting that it was challenging to stand in the same frame as him. "My father's screen presence was so impressive that it was difficult to stand in front of him... Some actors completely draw you in as soon as they come on screen. My father was one of them," Akshaye explained.

Vinod Khanna, who passed away in 2017, remains a respected figure in Bollywood, known not only for his acting prowess but also for his style and charisma. He was posthumously awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Akshaye continues to carve his own path in the industry, earning recognition for his versatility and impactful performances.
