Mumbai, December 14, 2025 - Star cricketer Virat Kohli and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma were spotted at a private airport in Mumbai on Saturday, December 13, drawing considerable attention. The couple's arrival has sparked a flurry of speculation among fans, especially with football legend Lionel Messi also scheduled to be in Mumbai on Sunday.

Kohli, fresh off a stellar performance in the recent ODI series against South Africa, where he was named Player of the Series, was seen alongside Anushka. The actress, who has been away from the public eye for several months, made a rare appearance, adding to the buzz surrounding their visit.

In videos circulating on social media, Kohli is seen waving to the paparazzi as he exited the airport, while Anushka offered a smile to the photographers. She was dressed in a black shirt and a grey trench coat, completing her look with dark sunglasses and loose hair. Kohli sported an all-black casual ensemble. Their children, Vamika and Akaay, were not seen with them.

The purpose of their visit remains unknown, fueling speculation among fans. Some suggest that the couple may be in Mumbai to meet Lionel Messi, who is scheduled to participate in a charity fashion show and a celebrity football match in the city on Sunday. Others believe they might be in town for personal reasons, as Kohli has no scheduled matches until January and Anushka has no reported work commitments in Mumbai.

Anushka’s appearance in India comes after a long absence. She was last seen in the country during the Indian Premier League in June. Following that, she was spotted in London on a few occasions with her children and also attended the Wimbledon Finals in July.

Kohli, on the other hand, had been in India for the recent ODI series against South Africa, where he finished as the highest run-scorer, amassing 302 runs in just three matches. He also concluded the year as India's leading ODI run-scorer, with 651 runs in 13 matches. His next international assignment is the ODI series against New Zealand, scheduled to begin on January 11 in Vadodara. Before that, he is expected to play for Delhi in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Meanwhile, there has been no update on the release of Anushka Sharma's much-anticipated cricket drama “Chakda Xpress”, based on the life of Indian women's cricket legend Jhulan Goswami, leading to speculation about its future.

The couple recently celebrated their eighth wedding anniversary on December 11.
