Shriya Pilgaonkar, known for her roles in web series and films such as "Guilty Minds" and "Mirzapur", is reflecting on her Bollywood debut in the 2016 film "Fan," where she starred opposite Shah Rukh Khan. As the eight-year anniversary of the film approaches, Pilgaonkar recalls the experience as a pivotal moment where her dreams began to materialize.
Pilgaonkar remembers her initial reaction to receiving the offer and said she could not believe it. She recalls telling her parents that she was cast as Shah Rukh's love interest, then immediately shutting the door, overwhelmed by the news.
Working alongside Shah Rukh Khan was an incredible learning experience for Pilgaonkar. She describes him as not only a phenomenal actor but also a source of inspiration, admiring his work ethic, passion, and constant drive to excel. Pilgaonkar fondly remembers moments between shots where they discussed books, philosophy, and life. She also recalls dancing with him to his iconic song "Chaiyya Chaiyya" at a small party after wrapping up one day.
Pilgaonkar had met Shah Rukh Khan years before "Fan," while assisting director Megha Ramaswamy on a short film. During that first encounter, Shah Rukh Khan told Pilgaonkar that she was "so beautiful," which gave her a confidence boost.
Pilgaonkar is grateful for the opportunity to have collaborated with Shah Rukh Khan and hopes for another chance to share the screen with him. In the meantime, she continues to carve a niche for herself as a performer in web series and films. She will be seen next in Bhuvan Bam's action-drama series "Taaza Khabar," which also stars Mahesh Manjrekar and Deven Bhojani.
