Shalini Pandey's 'Bandwaale': Trailer Released, Musical Dramedy Set to Premiere on Specific Date.

The trailer for the upcoming musical dramedy Bandwaale, starring Shalini Pandey, Zahan Kapoor, and Swanand Kirkire, has been released, offering a glimpse into the series ahead of its premiere on February 13 on Prime Video. The series, set in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, revolves around Mariam, a young poetess portrayed by Shalini Pandey, who explores themes of identity, independence, and self-expression by anonymously sharing her poetry online.

Bandwaale explores the journey of Mariam as she navigates societal expectations and seeks a sense of self. Her poetry, penned by Kausar Munir, becomes a powerful outlet for her inner world, giving voice to emotions she finds difficult to express otherwise. Mariam's journey unfolds alongside her bandmates, Robo (Swanand Kirkire) and DJ Psycho (Zahan Kapoor), who provide music, humor, and companionship. Zahan Kapoor describes DJ Psycho as a character who is guarded yet deeply emotional, expressing himself through music.

The series is created and written by Ankur Tewari and Swanand Kirkire, with Akshat Verma and Ankur Tewari directing. Bandwaale features original music by Yashraj Mukhate, marking his first major project composing for a streaming series.

Swanand Kirkire describes Bandwaale as a story that grew from everyday observations about expression and the courage to be oneself. Ankur Tewari added that the intention was to tell a grounded story that feels honest and familiar, staying true to Mariam's world and her self-discovery through poetry.

Nikhil Madhok, Director and Head of Originals at Prime Video India, stated that Bandwaale reflects Prime Video's commitment to showcasing authentic and distinctive stories, blending music, humor, and emotions in a narrative rooted in familiar realities. Tusharr Kumar, CEO of OML Entertainment, which produced the series, described Bandwaale as a story about discovering one's identity and challenging imposed expectations, expressing fulfillment in collaborating with Prime Video.

The series, comprising eight episodes, also stars Sanjana Dipu, Ashish Vidyarthi, and Anupama Kumar in key roles. Bandwaale promises a refreshing blend of music, emotions, and self-discovery, exploring youth identity and creativity through the lens of music and friendship.
