Dua Lipa brought her star power to MISTR's first-ever National PrEP Day celebration, held at The Abbey in West Hollywood on Thursday, October 9, 2025. The pop star's surprise appearance aimed to boost HIV awareness and encourage the use of PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis).
The event, organized by MISTR, a telehealth platform focused on sexual health, marked the culmination of a 10-day national campaign with the goal of enrolling 10,000 new people on PrEP by Friday, October 10. PrEP is a daily pill or twice-yearly injection that can reduce the risk of HIV transmission by up to 99%.
Lipa, 30, took the stage in a vibrant, Barbie-pink bodysuit with a sheer, sparkly halter strap and a satin corset bodice. She performed a setlist including her hits "New Rules," "Don't Start Now," and "Houdini," energizing the crowd of LGBTQ+ fans and supporters. Bob the Drag Queen emceed the event, which also drew a star-studded list of attendees, including Cardi B, Demi Lovato, Kim Petras, Matt Bomer, NeNe Leakes, Cynthia Bailey, Tamar Braxton, Tom Daley, and Omar Apollo.
Tristan Schukraft, founder and CEO of MISTR, emphasized the importance of the campaign, stating, "We can end HIV. We have the tools. Being on PrEP is about taking control of your sexual health, just like the birth control pill did for women". He added that taking PrEP is a proactive step in ending the epidemic. Schukraft also highlighted the significance of National PrEP Day as a celebration of community, sex positivity, and accessible healthcare.
West Hollywood has historically been a leader in the fight against HIV, and city officials have expressed pride in continuing that legacy on National PrEP Day. They emphasized the importance of accessible prevention methods that are free, stigma-free, and easy to obtain, praising partners like MISTR for their innovative approach to making PrEP accessible through telehealth and community connection.
Lipa's performance at National PrEP Day followed her recent Los Angeles shows as part of her Radical Optimism Tour. She shared her excitement on Instagram, expressing gratitude for the four nights she spent in the city and her surprise performances with Gwen Stefani and Lionel Richie. Following the event, Lipa is scheduled to continue her tour with stops in San Francisco and Seattle, before heading to South America.
