Ram Charan, the acclaimed pan-Indian actor, and his wife, Upasana Kamineni Konidela, met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Saturday to celebrate the success of the Archery Premier League (APL). The meeting highlighted the couple's appreciation for the Prime Minister's vision and encouragement of sports in India.
The meeting centered around the success of the inaugural Archery Premier League, an initiative aimed at broadening the sport's appeal. Ram Charan is the brand ambassador for the league, which is the country's first franchise-based archery tournament, launched in collaboration with the Archery Association of India. The league includes six teams comprising 36 Indian players and international competitors. Ram Charan also attended the tournament as the Chief Guest.
Following the meeting, Ram Charan shared his sentiments on Instagram, expressing his honor in meeting Prime Minister Modi and acknowledging the Prime Minister's guidance and passion for sports. He believes that Modi's support will help preserve and promote the legacy of archery worldwide and congratulated all the athletes, hoping more will join the sport for its mental and physical health benefits.
Upasana Kamineni Konidela also shared her thoughts, emphasizing the importance of sports for national well-being. Drawing from her healthcare background, she highlighted the power of sports in promoting both physical and mental well-being. She congratulated her father, Anil Kamineni, and Ram Charan on the league's success, stating her belief in the Prime Minister's vision to heal the nation through sports.
During the meeting, Upasana presented Prime Minister Modi with a Balaji idol and a traditional puja kit on behalf of Ram Charan's parents, Chiranjeevi and Surekha. Additionally, the delegation presented the Prime Minister with a bow to honor the success of the league.
Ram Charan's involvement in archery extends beyond his role as brand ambassador. He recently showcased his archery skills during Dussehra celebrations, generating further interest in the sport and encouraging young people to participate in activities blending tradition and fitness.
