Veteran actor Anupam Kher recently reunited with his Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ) co-stars, Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, at the 70th Hyundai Filmfare Awards 2025 with Gujarat Tourism event, evoking a sense of nostalgia and warmth. Kher, who presented the trio – Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, and Karan Johar – with a Filmfare trophy, shared his sentiments on social media, stating, "Saal Badle Hai, Jazbaat Nahi". This translates to "Years have changed, but not the emotions," encapsulating the enduring bond he shares with them.

The 70th edition of the Filmfare Awards took place on October 11, 2025, at the EKA Arena in Ahmedabad. The event was a star-studded affair with numerous celebrities in attendance. Shah Rukh Khan hosted the awards after a hiatus of 17 years, joined by Karan Johar and Maniesh Paul. The night included performances by Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Kriti Sanon, Ananya Panday, and Siddhant Chaturvedi.

Kher expressed his joy on Instagram, calling the moment "beautiful, heartwarming, and nostalgic". He fondly reflected on the 90s, considering it one of the most cherished decades for Indian cinema. In the shared video, Kher is seen handing over the trophy to Kajol and Shah Rukh, with Kajol expressing her gratitude for being on stage with close friends and acknowledging the fun they had in the 90s. Shah Rukh Khan is also seen sharing a warm hug with Kher.

The on-screen magic of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol was relived as they performed to some of their iconic songs from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. The duo, dressed in matching black outfits, captivated the audience with their performance. Fans expressed their nostalgia and excitement on social media, with many celebrating their timeless chemistry.

Anupam Kher and Shah Rukh Khan's bond goes back decades, with their roles as father and son in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge remaining a fan favorite. Kher revealed that the memorable hand-play sequence in the film was entirely improvised on set. He praised Shah Rukh's improvisational skills and energetic nature. Kher also reminisced about the genuine relationships and bonds formed in the industry before the advent of vanity vans and constant social media monitoring.

In July 2025, Kher reflected on Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge's legacy, agreeing with Kajol that a sequel should not be made. He suggested that the film might not resonate with today's audience due to the evolution of the concept of love. He noted how cinema mirrors societal shifts, and how love is expressed has changed over time.

Anupam Kher has several projects in the pipeline. His latest film, Tanvi The Great, which he also directed, was released recently. He is also involved in Prabhas-Hanu Raghavapudi's upcoming film, rumored to be titled Fauji. Kher's filmography includes over 540 films, with notable roles in Saaransh, Karma, Tezaab, A Wednesday!, and The Kashmir Files.
