Gabrielle Henry, the 28-year-old Miss Universe Jamaica 2025, is currently in hospital in Thailand after falling off the stage during the preliminary evening gown competition at the Miss Universe pageant on November 19. The incident occurred as Henry, wearing an orange gown and high heels, walked across the stage. Videos circulating on social media show her missing a step and falling off the edge of the runway.
Following the fall, Henry was immediately attended to by staff and was taken away on a stretcher. She was then transported to Paolo Rangsit Hospital for evaluation. The Miss Universe Jamaica Organization released a statement confirming the incident and assuring the public that Henry was receiving the necessary medical care. According to the statement, doctors have ruled out any life-threatening injuries and are conducting further tests to support her full recovery.
Raul Rocha, the president of the Miss Universe Organization, also addressed the incident on Instagram, stating that he had visited Henry in the hospital. He reported that thankfully, there were no broken bones, and she was under good care and would remain under observation.
In a recent update on Friday, November 21, 2025, the Miss Universe Jamaica Organization released a statement explaining that Henry's sister, Dr. Phylicia Henry-Samuels, is with her and their mother, Maureen Henry, in Thailand. The update also indicated that Henry has been hospitalized for three days following the fall.
Prior to the mishap, Henry had been active on her Instagram Stories, sharing moments from her bus ride to the venue and her preparations for the swimsuit, national costume, and evening gown segments of the preliminary event.
The preliminary competition also saw another contestant, Miss Great Britain, Danielle Latimer, slip onstage during the national costume round. Latimer later made light of the incident on Instagram, while also offering supportive words to Miss Jamaica.
The Miss Universe competition has been marred by controversy this year after executive Nawat Itsaragrisil was removed from his post after a livestream featuring Miss Mexico Fatima Bosch went viral and led to contestants reportedly walking out.
The Miss Universe Jamaica Organization has requested the public to keep Henry in their thoughts and prayers as she receives medical care. Further updates on her condition are expected as she continues her recovery.
