Kriti Sanon Highlights Delhi Air Pollution Crisis: Urgent Action Needed to Combat Worsening Toxic Air Quality.

Delhi Suffers as Kriti Sanon Highlights Alarming Air Pollution Levels

New Delhi – As Delhi’s air quality continues to plummet, Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon has raised serious concerns about the worsening pollution in the national capital. Speaking at a press conference for her upcoming film "Tere Ishk Mein" with Dhanush, Sanon, who was born in Delhi, described the situation as dire and called for immediate action.

On Saturday, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi remained in the 'very poor' category, with an average AQI of 359. Several areas, including Noida, recorded AQI levels above 430, indicating 'severe' pollution. This toxic smog has prompted authorities to reinforce emergency pollution response measures.

"I don't think saying anything will help. It (pollution) is getting worse and worse," Sanon stated during the press event. "I am from Delhi, and I know what it used to be earlier, and it is getting worse. Something needs to be done to stop it; otherwise, it will reach a point where we won't be able to see each other standing next to us," she warned, emphasizing the potential consequences of inaction.

Sanon’s comments reflect growing public unease as the city remains blanketed in toxic smog. The Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and Adjoining Areas (CAQM) has already revised the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) schedule to prevent further deterioration of air quality in Delhi-NCR. GRAP is an emergency response mechanism that brings together multiple stakeholders and authorities in the region to respond to deteriorating air quality.

Despite a slight improvement in the AQI, Delhi's air quality continues to be in the 'very poor' category, according to the Air Quality Early Warning System. Early morning commuters navigated through the smog-filled streets, with the ITO area recording an AQI of 370. The India Gate area was also enveloped in a thick layer of smog.

In addition to addressing environmental concerns, Sanon also spoke about her experience working with Dhanush in "Tere Ishk Mein". She praised Dhanush as an incredible actor, expressing her admiration for his talent and craft. "I believe he has a very strong grasp of his craft. He's very nuanced; he has also directed a lot of films, bringing a wealth of experience and understanding to scenes and how they will translate on screen,” Sanon said. The film, directed by Aanand L Rai, is set to release on November 28, 2025.

Kriti Sanon's remarks serve as a stark reminder of the urgent need for collective action to combat air pollution in Delhi. As the city grapples with this environmental crisis, her voice adds to the growing calls for sustainable solutions and greater accountability.
