Govinda's fans eager for his return to the silver screen may have to wait a while longer. In a recent interview, his wife, Sunita Ahuja, shed light on the actor's current stance on making a comeback, hinting that it might not be happening anytime soon.
Sunita Ahuja opened up about the challenges and industry politics that Govinda has faced throughout his career. She refuted rumors about Govinda's tardiness on film sets, calling them "baseless gossip" fueled by industry politics. According to her, these narratives have contributed to the negativity surrounding the actor, despite his dedication to his work. She also pointed out that some of Govinda's films were stalled, questioning if his success was the reason behind it.
She revealed that despite Govinda's dedication to his work, there was always negativity surrounding him. “They would spread rumours about Govinda. He would show up for shoots, and people would still talk behind his back,” she shared. She added that his rise from humble beginnings to a megastar had made him a target of jealousy. “There has been a lot of politics against him. Nobody wants to see a man from humble beginnings become a megastar,” she said. She also pointed out how Govinda's success was sabotaged behind the scenes. “Why were his movies stopped? Just because he was a superstar?"
Sunita also addressed the difficulties Govinda faced after his stint in politics, noting that he had gained weight. She recounted how she had sought the help of David Dhawan to help Govinda get back on screen. Eventually, Salman Khan also stepped in, leading to Govinda's successful comeback with the film "Partner". Sunita expressed her gratitude towards Salman and David for their support.
Govinda's last major film appearance was in "Aa Gaya Hero" (2017), which didn't fare well at the box office. His subsequent film, "Rangeela Raja" (2019), was also critically panned. Since 2022, Govinda has been focusing on reality show appearances.
Sunita emphasized that Govinda achieved stardom through his talent and determination, without any backing. She has instilled this value in her children, Tina and Yashvardan, encouraging them to make their own way in the industry without relying on their father's connections. She has made it clear to her kids that they shouldn't expect their father to make calls and get them work. Unlike other star kids, she explained that her kids are self-made as her daughter struggled a lot, and her son will make his debut without any godfather or support from their father.
While Govinda's fans eagerly await his return, it seems the actor is taking his time and carefully considering his next move.
