Jennifer Lopez is powering through after a rehearsal mishap for the 2025 American Music Awards (AMAs) left her with a cut on her face. The multi-talented entertainer, who is hosting and performing at the event, shared images of the injury on her Instagram story on May 13, 2025.
The photos revealed a visible cut on the bridge of her nose, along with redness and swelling around her nose and cheek. One photo showed her holding an ice pack to her face. Lopez captioned one of the photos, "So this happened…," and in a follow-up post, she indicated the injury occurred during AMAs rehearsals.
Fortunately, the injury seems to be healing well. Lopez posted a photo with her plastic surgeon, Dr. Jason Diamond, expressing her gratitude for his help. "Thank you for stitching me up Dr. Diamond," she wrote, adding, "A week later and a whole lotta ice, I'm good as new". The images suggest the incident happened earlier in May. In the final photo, the cut was barely visible.
Despite the painful-looking injury, it appears Lopez is in good spirits and ready to host the AMAs. This year's show will be held on May 26, 2025, at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas, marking the first time the event has been held outside of the Greater Los Angeles Area. The show will be broadcast on CBS and available to stream on Paramount+. Lopez previously hosted the AMAs in 2015. This will be the second time Lopez has hosted the AMAs.
The 2025 AMAs are returning after a hiatus in 2023 and 2024. In March 2024, CBS acquired the rights to broadcast the AMAs under a multi-year deal. Instead of a live show in 2024, CBS aired a 50th-anniversary special in October 2024.
In addition to Lopez as host, Janet Jackson will be honored with the Icon Award at the 2025 AMAs. Kendrick Lamar leads the nominations with ten, followed by Post Malone with eight. The event will also pay tribute to U.S. troops and veterans.
