Actor Rahul Dev is in mourning following the death of his brother, Mukul Dev, who passed away on Friday, May 23, 2025, at the age of 54. The news was confirmed by actor Vindu Dara Singh, who had worked with Mukul Dev in the film 'Son of Sardaar'. Mukul Dev had been unwell for some time and was admitted to the ICU, where his condition deteriorated.

Rahul Dev shared details about the cremation on his Instagram account, informing friends, family, and fans that the last rites would be held in Delhi today, May 24th, at 5 PM. He noted that Mukul is survived by his daughter, siblings, and nephew.

Mukul Dev, born on September 17, 1970, in New Delhi, was a versatile actor known for his work in Hindi, Punjabi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Bengali and Malayalam films, as well as television. He began his acting career in 1996 with the TV series 'Mumkin' and made his film debut the same year in 'Dastak', alongside Sushmita Sen. Over his career, he appeared in films such as 'Yamla Pagla Deewana', 'Son of Sardaar', 'R... Rajkumar', and 'Jai Ho'. He also received the 7th Amrish Puri Award for excellence in acting for his role in 'Yamla Pagla Deewana'. His last film appearance was in 'Anth The End' in 2022.

Beyond acting, Mukul Dev was a trained pilot, having received his aviation training at the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi (National Flying Academy) in Raebareli. He worked as a commercial pilot for nearly a decade and even ran an aeronautical training institute before dedicating himself fully to his acting career.

Colleagues and friends have expressed their condolences and shared memories of Mukul Dev. Actress Deepshikha Nagpal confirmed the news of his passing on social media, posting a photo of them together. She mentioned that Mukul never spoke about his health and that his passing was a shock. Manoj Bajpayee shared a heartfelt message, calling Mukul a "brother in spirit" and an artist whose "warmth and passion were unmatched." Vindu Dara Singh noted that Mukul had been keeping to himself after the death of his parents and that his health had deteriorated in recent days.

Mukul Dev's early exposure to the entertainment world came in Class 8 when he impersonated Michael Jackson in a dance show organized by Doordarshan, for which he received his first paycheck. He also hosted the first season of 'Fear Factor India'.

Mukul Dev's contribution to the entertainment industry will be remembered by his fans and colleagues. His cremation in Delhi will be a moment for his loved ones to gather and pay their final respects.
