The highly anticipated trailer for Rajinikanth's action drama "Coolie" is set to be unveiled on August 2, 2025. Sun Pictures made the announcement via social media, heightening the excitement surrounding the film, which is slated for a worldwide release on August 14, 2025. The trailer launch coincides with the grand audio launch event planned in Chennai at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium.

"Coolie" marks Rajinikanth's 171st film and celebrates his 50th year in the film industry, making it a significant milestone in his illustrious career. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and produced by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures, the film is billed as an action thriller.

The movie boasts an ensemble cast including Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj and Shruti Haasan in lead roles, alongside Reba Monica John, Junior MGR, Kanna Ravi, Monisha Blessy and Kaali Venkat. Aamir Khan and Pooja Hegde will also make cameo appearances. Nagarjuna will be seen in a negative role after initial hesitation. Lokesh Kanagaraj stated that "Coolie" will be a standalone story, and not part of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU). The film will focus on gold smuggling, a departure from the drug-related themes in Kanagaraj's previous films.

Anirudh Ravichander is composing the music for "Coolie". The film will be released in multiple languages across India. The foreign distribution rights have reportedly been sold for ₹81 crore.

Advance ticket sales in the U.S. have already exceeded $2 million, signaling strong global anticipation. Pre-bookings in the USA began three days ago and have already set a record by selling tickets worth $500K.

The film is expected to deliver high-octane action sequences and visuals. Principal photography commenced in July 2024 in Chennai and wrapped up by mid-March 2025, with schedules in Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Jaipur, and Bangkok.

"Coolie" is set to clash with Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR's "War 2" at the box office.
