Mumbai, November 24, 2025 – Veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025, at the age of 89, after battling age-related ailments. The news has sent shockwaves through the film industry and his millions of fans worldwide. Dharmendra, fondly known as the "He-Man" of Bollywood, had been recently discharged from Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on November 12, after being admitted earlier in the month.
The last rites were held at the Pawan Hans Crematorium in Vile Parle, Mumbai, where family, friends, and numerous Bollywood personalities gathered to pay their final respects.
Sunny Deol, Dharmendra's eldest son, performed the last rites in an intensely emotional atmosphere. He was seen visibly devastated, with tears in his eyes, as he bid farewell to his father. Sunny, along with his sons Karan and Rajveer Deol, were seen exiting the crematorium after the funeral. He was later spotted returning to his home after the cremation.
Bobby Deol, Dharmendra’s younger son, was also present and seen leaving the crematorium after the rites. Hema Malini, Dharmendra's wife, and their daughter Esha Deol were also present, and were seen leaving the crematorium with folded hands, signaling the paparazzi for privacy during the difficult time.
A multitude of Bollywood stars attended the funeral to pay their respects to the legendary actor, including Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Akshay Kumar, Saira Banu, and Shabana Azmi.
News of Dharmendra's passing prompted an outpouring of tributes from colleagues, fans, and prominent figures. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences, calling Dharmendra's death "the end of an era". Rahul Gandhi shared a heartfelt tribute on X, acknowledging Dharmendra's unparalleled contribution to cinema. Telugu star Allu Arjun also conveyed his condolences to the family.
Dharmendra, whose full name is Dharam Singh Deol, had a career spanning over six decades and 300 films. Some of his most memorable films include "Sholay", "Chupke Chupke", "Dream Girl", "Dharam Veer", and "Mera Gaon Mera Desh". He was not only known for his acting prowess but also for his humility and kindness.
Dharmendra is survived by his first wife, Prakash Kaur, and their children Sunny, Bobby, Vijeta, and Ajeita Deol, as well as Hema Malini and their daughters, Esha and Ahana Deol.
The actor's death comes just weeks before his 90th birthday, which was on December 8. The industry and fans alike are mourning the loss of a true icon whose legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
