A prayer meet for the legendary actor Dharmendra is scheduled to be held on November 27th in Mumbai. The veteran actor, who passed away on Monday at the age of 89, will be remembered and celebrated by his family, friends, and the film fraternity.
Dharmendra, born Dharam Singh Deol in Punjab in 1935, had an illustrious career spanning six decades, featuring in over 300 films. He was known for his versatility, excelling in action, romance, and comedy, with iconic films like "Sholay", "Chupke Chupke", "Satyakam", "Anupama", and "Seeta Aur Geeta" to his credit.
The news of his passing has deeply saddened the film industry and his numerous fans. Following his death after a prolonged illness, Dharmendra was cremated in a private ceremony at the Pawan Hans crematorium in Juhu on Monday afternoon. This was in contrast to the public funerals and state honors accorded to other film icons like Sridevi and Yash Chopra.
In the wake of his demise, numerous Bollywood personalities visited the Deol residence to offer their condolences to the family. Among those who paid their respects were Hrithik Roshan with his father Rakesh Roshan, Ajay Devgn, Farah Khan, Shatrughan Sinha with his wife Poonam Sinha, Varun Dhawan, Ananya Panday, Kajol, Jackky Bhagnani, Rakul Preet Singh, and the director duo Abbas-Mastan.
Dharmendra is survived by his first wife Prakash Kaur, their children Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Ajeta, and Vijayta, as well as his second wife Hema Malini and their daughters Esha and Ahana. His loss marks the end of an era in Indian cinema.
