Following the widespread acclaim and commercial success of their recent crime drama thriller, "Thudarum," Malayalam cinema icon Mohanlal and director Tharun Moorthy are set to collaborate once again. The exciting news was officially announced on Monday by Ashiq Usman Productions, who will be backing this new venture. A photo of Mohanlal alongside the core creative team has been shared, further fueling anticipation for the project.

Ratheesh Ravi, known for his work in films like "Pullikkaran Staraa," "Ishq," and "Adi," is penning the script, promising another intense narrative. Shaji Kumar, who has a long-standing association with Mohanlal in films such as "Naran," "Pulimurugan," and "Thudarum," will be handling the cinematography.

While details about the plot are currently under wraps, sources suggest that the film will revolve around a cop story, offering a different take from a previous project, tentatively titled "L 365," which has now been shelved. Earlier in July, Ashiq Usman Productions had announced "L 365," which was supposed to be directed by debutant Austin Dan Thomas.

Notably, this is not the only project in the works for the Mohanlal-Tharun Moorthy duo. Another film, backed by "Thudarum" producer M Renjith, was announced in October during the success celebration of their previous collaboration. It remains unclear which of these projects will commence filming first.

Tharun Moorthy is also involved in other significant projects, including "Torpedo," a multi-starrer featuring Fahadh Faasil, Naslen, Arjun Das, and Ganapathi, and "Operation Cambodia," the sequel to his 2021 film "Operation Java," which will star Prithviraj Sukumaran.

"Thudarum," released on April 25, 2025, was a major commercial success, becoming the third highest-grossing Malayalam film of the year. The film, which stars Mohanlal and Shobana, garnered positive reviews for its suspenseful storytelling and gripping plot. Mohanlal played Shanmugham, a taxi driver with a past as a stuntman, caught in a crime story.
