Saif Ali Khan Maintains Private Instagram Presence, According to Neha Dhupia
In a recent interview, actress Neha Dhupia revealed that Saif Ali Khan, despite his public absence from social media, maintains a private account on Instagram. Dhupia disclosed that Khan uses this account to observe online discussions and read comments, giving him insight into public sentiment and even trolling.
Dhupia, who is currently receiving praise for her performance in "Perfect Family," India's first paid long-format YouTube series released on November 27, addressed the issue of social media trolling and the increasing prevalence of artificial intelligence (AI) in online spaces. It was during this conversation that she shared details about Saif Ali Khan's covert social media activity.
"5-6 years ago, during an interview on my show itself, I was talking to Saif about trolling," Dhupia recounted in an interview with Zoom. "He said he is not on social media, but he has a private account, and sometimes he reads the stuff that's written". Khan, according to Dhupia, recognized early on the potential for online negativity and the need for regulation, predicting that cybercrime departments would eventually get involved. "He said it is going to get so bad, there's going to be policing to an extent where the cybercrime department people are going to find you. And it is getting there; people have been found," Dhupia stated.
Saif Ali Khan's awareness of online toxicity isn't new. In 2020, he confessed to briefly having a fake Instagram account, which he abandoned due to the negativity he encountered. He also expressed his aversion to social media's time-consuming nature and its potential to cause annoyance. During an appearance on Neha Dhupia's chat show #NoFilterNeha5, Khan jokingly referred to his wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan, as "Mrs. Gram," acknowledging her active presence on the platform.
Dhupia also shared her perspective on the increasing misuse of AI and its impact on actresses, expressing anger but also noting that she has developed a "thick skin" to cope with online negativity. She highlighted recent instances of AI being used to create and spread inappropriate content, expressing satisfaction that perpetrators are being held accountable.
The revelation of Saif Ali Khan's private Instagram account adds him to the list of celebrities, like Ranbir Kapoor, who maintain a low-key presence on social media without a public profile. Kapoor, for instance, has admitted to having a "finsta account" with no followers, using it to follow inspiring content while avoiding the pressures of being officially on Instagram.
While Saif Ali Khan might not be actively engaging with fans and followers on social media, his decision to maintain a private account indicates a keen interest in understanding the digital landscape and the conversations surrounding him. This approach allows him to stay informed and aware of public perception while avoiding the direct exposure to toxicity that often plagues public figures on these platforms.
Meanwhile, Neha Dhupia is set to appear in the upcoming Netflix series "Single Papa," scheduled for release on December 12. Saif Ali Khan is currently filming "Haiwaan," directed by Priyadarshan, which also stars Akshay Kumar, marking their reunion after 17 years.
