Shahid Kapoor: Taking Risks in Bollywood is Essential for Success; Playing it Safe Doesn't Work.

Shahid Kapoor, a prominent figure in Bollywood, has recently shared insights into his career, emphasizing his inclination towards unconventional choices. He believes that playing it safe has never yielded the desired results in his journey.

Kapoor, who has spent over two decades in the film industry, addressed the common perception that his career was a result of his father, Pankaj Kapur's, influence. In a recent interview on the Punjab First Voice podcast, he clarified that his parents separated when he was only three years old. He stated that he lived with his mother and never used his father's name or sought his help to get work. Kapoor emphasized that things "just fell into place" for him.

Discussing his career choices, Kapoor mentioned that he has always found success in roles that weren't safe. He highlighted the constant struggle to understand what audiences want while also catering to his artistic self. He also spoke about how everyone advised him to pick safer options, considering the unpredictable nature of the film industry. However, he chose roles that resonated with him deeply, which helped him distinguish himself. Kapoor acknowledged that initially, he didn't pay much attention to the script but later reevaluated his choices.

In the same conversation, Shahid Kapoor touched upon maintaining a healthy work-life balance. He mentioned that after spending 22 years in the industry, he consciously tries not to bring his work home. He said that once he is back home, he assumes the roles of a father, husband, and son, emphasizing the importance of keeping professional and personal lives separate. He credited his wife, Mira Rajput, for being supportive and ensuring that they rarely discuss films at home.

Shahid Kapoor also reflected on his early life and career. He revealed that acting was not initially planned. He was interested in dance and took classes, which eventually became a source of income. Similarly, he accompanied a friend to an audition and landed a Pepsi commercial with Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji, which opened doors for him in the industry.

Furthermore, Kapoor addressed the importance of not burdening children with their parents' dreams. As a father, he strives to nurture his children's qualities and motivate them to pursue their own goals. He wants his children to have their own identity and not be overshadowed by his stardom.

On the professional front, Shahid Kapoor was last seen in "Deva," released on January 31, 2025, where he played a police officer. His upcoming projects include Vishal Bhardwaj's film with Triptii Dimri, Nana Patekar, and Randeep Hooda, with a special appearance by Vikrant Massey. He is also reportedly working on "Cocktail 2" with Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna.
