Mumbai, December 4, 2025 – In a recent interview, Bollywood icon Madhuri Dixit has described her husband, Dr. Sriram Nene, as an even greater blessing in her life than her illustrious film career. Dixit, who was one of the leading stars in Bollywood in the 1990s, decided to relocate to the United States in the late 1990s to marry Dr. Nene, a cardiovascular surgeon. While this move caused a break in her flourishing career, she recently stated that her husband's presence in her life is invaluable.
"Career was there, it still is, and it will continue to exist, but I think the bigger blessing is my husband," Madhuri Dixit shared. She highlighted that professional achievements mean little without someone to share them with, emphasizing the significance of personal happiness. "Because if you are not happy in your actual life, no matter what you achieve, you will not get happiness from it. Because you have no one to share it with," she added. She further reflected on the transient nature of fame, saying, "One day, people are going to forget you and who is going to be with you?".
Madhuri also clarified that her marriage to Dr. Nene was not an arranged one. Although her brother introduced them, they dated for six months before making the decision to marry. She fondly spoke of the qualities that attracted her to Dr. Nene, including his caring nature, intelligence, and genuine interest in the well-being of his patients. "When he speaks about his patients, the way he is fighting for them, his bedside manner is amazing," she said. She also noted his diverse interests, such as photography.
The actress emphasized the mutual respect, encouragement, and positivity that define their relationship. "I am lucky I met such a romantic guy," she said. "There should be mutual respect, encouragement, and positivity that always help me feel more". She described their bond as a "great combination of art and science," highlighting their shared desire for the good health of others.
Madhuri and Dr. Nene married on October 17, 1999, and subsequently moved to the United States, where they lived a private, family-oriented life. They have two sons, Arin, born in 2003, and Ryan, born in 2005. In 2011, the family returned to Mumbai, where Madhuri resumed her career in Indian cinema and television.
