The film, which already had a theatrical release on November 7, 2025, is now available for streaming in multiple languages, including Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam, ensuring a wide reach across the country.
"The Girlfriend" explores the journey of Bhooma Devi, played by Rashmika Mandanna, an MA Literature student whose life takes an unexpected turn when she falls in love with Vikram, portrayed by Dheekshith Shetty. The film delves into themes of self-discovery, love, and the challenges of maintaining personal boundaries as their college romance evolves and becomes toxic. The narrative focuses on how Bhooma deals with the toxic aspects of her relationship and seeks empowerment.
Directed by Rahul Ravindran, "The Girlfriend" is produced by Dheeraj Mogilineni and Vidya Koppineedi under the banners of Geetha Arts and Dheeraj Mogilineni Entertainment. The movie features music by Hesham Abdul Wahab and a background score by Prashanth R. Vihari, enhancing the emotional depth of the story.
