Aamir Khan, the Bollywood superstar, revealed on Wednesday that he is actively involved in producing films and has about "3-4 films" slated for release next year. Khan, who runs Aamir Khan Productions, stated that he enjoys acting but cannot participate in every film, which is why he also produces.
Khan made these comments at an "Agenda Aaj Tak" session in New Delhi, where he addressed his decision to take on production roles and cameos instead of lead roles. He explained that production has its own unique appeal, though he enjoys acting more.
Among the projects he is producing, one film, titled "Ek Din," will feature his son Junaid Khan in the lead role, alongside Sai Pallavi, a well-known South Indian actress. Other films he is backing include "Happy Patel," starring Vir Das and Mona Singh, and "Lahore 1947," directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and featuring Sunny Deol in the lead. "Happy Patel" is expected to be released in January, with the other films following in the next 3-4 months.
Khan noted a unique casting connection in "Happy Patel," where Mona Singh, who played his mother in "Laal Singh Chaddha," will portray his daughter.
Aamir Khan's most recent acting role was in "Sitaare Zameen Par," a follow-up to his 2007 film "Taare Zameen Par". He mentioned that he has been reading scripts and is considering his next acting project, with a few stories catching his interest.
In addition to these projects, Aamir Khan Productions is reportedly developing three projects set to begin production between October and March. While one of these projects may include Aamir Khan himself, the other two will feature different actors. There were talks that Aamir might act in Rajkumar Santoshi's comedy film, but he was expected to make a decision after the final edit of "Sitaare Zameen Par".
Looking further ahead, Aamir Khan is also slated to appear in a biopic on Dadasaheb Phalke, the father of Indian cinema, in collaboration with director Rajkumar Hirani. The script has been in development for four years, and Aamir is expected to begin preparations for the role after the release of "Sitaare Zameen Par".
Aamir Khan is also reportedly in discussions with Telugu director Vamshi Paidipally for a potential project to be produced by Dil Raju's Sri Venkateswara Creations.
Aamir Khan's film "Sitaare Zameen Par" was released on June 20 and is described as a sports drama inspired by the Spanish film "Campeones". In the film, Khan plays a coach. Other upcoming films include "Happy Patel Khatarnaak Jasoos," expected to release on January 16, 2026, and "Lahore, 1947," also slated for 2026.
