Veteran actress Kunickaa Sadanand, recently evicted from Bigg Boss 19, has voiced her support for fellow contestant Amaal Mallik amidst mixed reactions to the music composer's behavior on the show. In an exclusive interview, Kunickaa shared her views on Amaal and other contestants, including Abhishek Bajaj and Tanya Mittal.
Kunickaa described Amaal as "a lovely human being" who possesses a lot of angst and toxicity due to his journey. She believes Amaal's mission to gain recognition for music composers is admirable and that his intentions are good. "He deserves respect and has grown quite a lot," she stated, adding that she wouldn't be surprised to see him in the top 5.
Despite her support, Kunickaa acknowledged that Amaal hasn't contributed much to the game itself. However, she emphasized the importance of respecting him for who he is. This comes after Amaal has faced criticism from viewers regarding his conduct in the Bigg Boss house.
Kunickaa's eviction followed a 13-week stay in the Bigg Boss house, which she considers a great achievement. She revealed that she was told she is the third contestant over 60 years old to stay in the house for so long in the Big Brother franchise, and the first in Bigg Boss.
Notably, Kunickaa and Amaal were previously involved in a heated argument over kitchen duties, as seen in a promo for the show. The argument escalated when Amaal took charge of the kitchen, and Kunickaa responded sarcastically. Amaal retorted that giving respect didn't mean he should become a servant, to which Kunickaa replied she didn't want his respect.
Despite this clash, Kunickaa's recent statements suggest a softening in her stance towards Amaal. She also had disagreements with Tanya Mittal in the kitchen, highlighting the pressures and tensions within the Bigg Boss house. Kunickaa had mocked Tanya after Tanya found an insect while cutting bhindi, which led to Tanya questioning why Kunickaa linked women's empowerment to cooking.
Kunickaa also shared her opinions on other contestants. She referred to Abhishek Bajaj as a misogynist. She also expressed admiration for Tanya Mittal and said that Gaurav Khanna could reach the top 5. Kunickaa said that she wanted to be a mother to all the contestants but that she didn't because it would have hampered their game.
The veteran actress's support for Amaal comes at a time when some viewers have called for his removal from the show, drawing comparisons to past controversial contestants. Accusations of physical violence and heated arguments have fueled these demands. It remains to be seen how Amaal's journey will unfold in the remaining weeks of Bigg Boss 19.
