After 14 years of marriage, television actors Jay Bhanushali and Mahhi Vij have officially announced their separation. The couple, who tied the knot in 2011, confirmed the news on January 4, 2026, via a joint statement shared on their respective Instagram accounts, putting an end to months of speculation regarding their relationship.
In their statement, Jay and Mahhi emphasized that their decision to part ways was amicable and that they remain committed to co-parenting their three children: Tara, their biological daughter born in 2019, and Khushi and Rajveer, whom they took in as foster children in 2017. "Today, we choose to part ways on a journey called life, yet we continue to have each other's back," the statement read. "Peace, growth, kindness, and humanity have always been our guiding values."
The couple further stated that their children's well-being remains their top priority. "For the sake of our children Tara, Khushi, Rajveer, we commit to being the best parents, the best friends, and whatever else it takes to do what is right for them," they affirmed.
Addressing any potential for negative interpretations of their separation, Jay and Mahhi made it clear that there is no animosity between them. "Though we walk separate paths, there is no villain in this story and no negativity attached to this decision," they wrote. "Before any conclusions are drawn, please know that we chose peace over drama and sanity above all else."
The couple also expressed their intention to maintain a supportive and friendly relationship. "We continue to respect one another, support one another, and remain friends, as we always have been," they stated. "With mutual respect, we ask for your respect, love, and kindness as we move forward."
While the specific reasons for the separation have not been disclosed, the couple's statement suggests a mutual decision based on personal growth and peace. In the months leading up to the announcement, rumors of trouble in their marriage had circulated, which Mahhi addressed in a YouTube vlog in November 2025. She refuted claims that she was seeking a large alimony settlement.
Jay, known for hosting reality shows and live events, and Mahhi, who recently returned to television with "Sehar Hone Ko Hai," first met at a club, and Jay realized he wanted to marry Mahhi within three months. Their decision to separate marks the end of a significant chapter in their lives, but they are committed to co-parenting their children with love and respect.
