The children of actress Karisma Kapoor, Samaira and Kiaan, are challenging the will of their late father, businessman Sunjay Kapur, in the Delhi High Court. The legal battle revolves around Sunjay Kapur's estate, estimated to be worth ₹30,000 crore. The primary target of the lawsuit is Priya Sachdev Kapur, Sunjay's third wife, whom he married after divorcing Karisma Kapoor.

Sunjay Kapur passed away on June 12, 2025, at the age of 53, due to a heart attack while playing polo in the UK. He was the former chairman of Sona Comstar, an auto components firm with a market capitalization close to ₹30,000 crore.

The core of the dispute lies in a will, purportedly dated March 21, 2025, which leaves Sunjay Kapur's entire estate to his wife, Priya Sachdev Kapur. Samaira and Kiaan allege that this will is "forged and fabricated". They claim that Priya Sachdev Kapur concealed the existence of the will for seven weeks after their father's death, only revealing it on July 30. The children argue that the will is suspicious, especially since their father had always kept them and their mother informed about important matters, including asset distribution.

In their suit, Samaira and Kiaan are seeking to be declared legal heirs to their father's assets. They are also seeking a one-fifth share each of all movable and immovable properties. Furthermore, they are asking for a complete account of their father's assets and records up to the date of his death. The defendants in the lawsuit include Priya Kapur, her minor son, Sunjay's mother Rani Kapur, and Shradha Suri Marwah, the purported executor of the will.

Adding to the complexity, Sunjay's mother, Rani Kapur, has also raised concerns. She claimed that she was pressured into signing documents behind locked doors while still grieving her son's death. She has questioned the official account of her son's death and has urged UK authorities to investigate.

Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapur married in 2003 and divorced in 2016. The divorce was finalized after a contentious legal battle. Karisma Kapoor received a substantial alimony, including bonds worth ₹14 crore for the children and ownership of Sunjay's father's house.

Despite the past disputes, Sunjay Kapur had reportedly taken steps to secure his children's financial future. Besides the alimony arrangements, he had involved them in business ventures and designated them as beneficiaries of the RK Family Trust. The children recall shared holidays, business conversations, and personal milestones as evidence of his commitment to their future.

Following Sunjay Kapur's death, tensions reportedly escalated, with Priya Sachdev Kapur allegedly restricting access to trust-related documents. The children also allege that they were asked to sign legal papers related to Sona Comstar without full transparency.

The Delhi High Court has issued a notice to Priya Kapur, directing her to file her response to the children's claims. The court has also asked her to provide a list of all movable and immovable assets. The next hearing is scheduled for October 9. The outcome of this legal battle will determine the inheritance of Sunjay Kapur's estate and the future of his legacy.
