Prime Video has released the official trailer for "We Were Liars," a new series based on the bestselling novel by E. Lockhart. The series is set to premiere on June 18, 2025, and stars Emily Alyn Lind as Cadence Sinclair Eastman. The story revolves around Cadence and her close-knit group of friends, nicknamed "the Liars," as they spend their summers on her grandfather's private island in New England.

The trailer opens with idyllic scenes of the Sinclair family on Beechwood Island, portraying a picture-perfect summer filled with laughter, beach outings, and blossoming romances. Cadence's voiceover sets the stage, describing the Sinclairs as "American royalty," known for their wealth, good looks, and strong family bonds. However, the tone shifts dramatically when Cadence reveals, "something terrible happened last summer, and I have no memory of what—or who—hurt me."

The trailer then shows Cadence waking up on the beach, bloodied and with no memory of the events that led to her being there. In the aftermath of the accident that left her stranded with holes in her memory, Cadence returns to Beechwood the following summer, hoping that being there will jog her memory.

As Cadence tries to piece together the events of the previous summer, she is met with resistance and secrets from those around her, including her beloved Liars. "The Sinclairs are American royalty…but after a mysterious accident changes Cadence's life forever, everyone, including her beloved Liars, seems to have something to hide," reads the official synopsis. The trailer hints at dark secrets and hidden motives, suggesting that everyone is a suspect in Cadence's mysterious accident.

Emily Alyn Lind portrays Cadence with a sense of vulnerability and determination, capturing the character's struggle to uncover the truth while grappling with memory loss and the realization that her family may not be as perfect as she once believed. The series also stars Shubham Maheshwari as Gat Patil, Esther McGregor as Mirren Sinclair Sheffield, and Joseph Zada as Johnny Sinclair Dennis, who make up the rest of the Liars. The extended cast includes Mamie Gummer as Carrie Sinclair, Caitlin FitzGerald as Penny Sinclair, Candice King as Bess Sinclair, Rahul Kohli as Ed Patil, and David Morse as Harris Sinclair.

"We Were Liars" is a psychological thriller that explores themes of memory, truth, and the dark secrets that can lie beneath the surface of even the most seemingly perfect families. The series is created by Carina Adly MacKenzie and Julie Plec, who also serve as writers and executive producers. With its intriguing plot, talented cast, and stunning visuals, "We Were Liars" is shaping up to be one of the summer's most anticipated shows. All eight episodes of the series will be available on Prime Video on June 18, 2025.
