The day ARMY has been waiting for has finally arrived. On June 10, 2025, BTS members RM and V were officially discharged from their mandatory military service, marking a significant step towards the group's highly anticipated return. The discharge ceremony was met with immense excitement from fans and media alike, who gathered near their respective military bases in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province, to welcome them back.
RM, who served in the military band of the 15th Infantry Division, celebrated his discharge in a characteristically unique way. Stepping out in full military uniform, he surprised and delighted fans by bringing out his saxophone and putting on an impromptu performance. This playful gesture, reminiscent of his saxophone serenade at Jin's discharge, drew laughter and cheers from the crowd. Meanwhile, V, who served in the elite Special Duty Team (SDT) under the 2nd Corps Military Police, appeared equally dashing, holding large floral bouquets presented to him by adoring fans.
Despite Big Hit Music's request for fans to refrain from visiting the discharge location due to safety concerns, hundreds of ARMY members flocked to Chuncheon to show their support. Banners and cheering wands filled the air as RM and V emerged, exchanging a warm hug before addressing the crowd. RM expressed his gratitude and reflected on his military service, stating, "Finally discharged, we had a short military service, and the conditions have much improved. Honestly, there were many painful and difficult times, but I felt a lot that many people protected the country in our place while we were active.” He also expressed eagerness to return to the stage and perform for their fans again. V echoed this sentiment, sharing that his time in the military allowed him to "rethink and compose my mind and body," promising to return with "truly amazing performances."
The homecoming of RM and V signals the beginning of BTS's return to full-group activities. Jimin and Jungkook are scheduled to complete their service on June 11, while Suga is expected to be discharged on June 21. Jin, the first member to enlist, is also due to rejoin the group imminently. HYBE has hinted at a BTS comeback later this year, stirring up further anticipation among fans worldwide. To commemorate the occasion, HYBE Corporation wrapped its headquarters in Seoul with BTS and ARMY logos and the phrase "We Are Back," a message that will remain until June 29, coinciding with the group's debut anniversary.
