Ram Kapoor recently found himself embroiled in controversy after making inappropriate remarks during promotional activities for his web series, Mistry. The actor was subsequently removed from further promotional events for the show. In a recent interview, Kapoor addressed the situation, admitting that his family "went berserk" following the incident.

During the promotional interviews for Mistry, Kapoor reportedly made sexually inappropriate and offensive comments directed at the publicists and marketing team, causing discomfort among the crew. These remarks included jokes about kissing a male executive, suggesting his mother should have "gone to sleep" instead of conceiving him, making an inappropriate reference to feeling "gang-raped" in front of a journalist, and alluding to sex positions. He also commented on a female crew member's outfit, saying the clothes were distracting.

Following the backlash and corroboration of the complaints, the streaming platform, JioHotstar, removed Kapoor from the remaining promotional activities for Mistry. Mona Singh, his co-star, continued with solo interviews. Kapoor has since admitted to making the inappropriate comments and has promised to apologize to those he offended.

In an interview with Zoom, Kapoor admitted feeling nervous and scared due to the controversy. He stated that his family and staff "went berserk" when the news broke. However, he maintained that it was "not a big deal" for him. He said, "I try not to make anything into too big a deal because I genuinely am of the thought process that, see, people don't realise this, but all the big deals in our life are choices that we make". He added that he told his family, "Why are you all reacting so much? I will handle it," and that he did handle it.

Kapoor also shared that he used the incident as a teachable moment for his children, explaining that difficult situations will arise in life, and it's up to them to decide whether to make it a big deal or not. He emphasized the importance of handling things without panic. "If you don't allow anything to become a big deal, then you will not let anything affect you too much, which is good. Because small, unnecessary things affect us and waste our lives," he said.

Despite the controversy, Kapoor is grateful that the audience has embraced Mistry. He expressed his gratitude to the audience, media, and press for their positive response to the show, despite the controversy. He stated that he doesn't mind going through controversies as long as his work is appreciated.

Sudhanshu Pandey, a fellow television actor, criticized Kapoor's remarks, calling them a sign of "mental instability" and apologized to women on behalf of the television industry.

Kapoor acknowledged that his remarks came from a "harmless space," but he understood that the team members, many of whom are younger than him, were offended, which he found unacceptable. He stated his intention to apologize to each team member personally.
