In a series of recent developments, Bollywood actor and politician Govinda has addressed both his relationship with his wife, Sunita Ahuja, amidst swirling rumors, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-Shinde Sena alliance's victory in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections.
Govinda has broken his silence regarding speculation about his marriage to Sunita Ahuja, which has been under public scrutiny for the past year. Rumors of a potential split have circulated for months, fueled by Sunita's recent remarks hinting at Govinda's alleged infidelity. Sunita suggested that Govinda was involved with a newcomer and is being blackmailed by that person. She has also stated that she would never forgive Govinda if she receives confirmation of the affair.
In response, Govinda has alleged that his family members are being unknowingly "used" in a "big conspiracy" against him. Speaking to ANI, Govinda explained that he decided to speak out because remaining silent made him seem weak and fueled the negative perceptions others had of him. He suggested that even his close ones are being manipulated without their knowledge. Govinda stated that Sunita might be unwittingly drawn into the conspiracy, comparing her to an opening batsman being thrust into the field. He also alluded to attempts to tarnish his reputation due to his popularity, referencing past accusations against him. He added that Sunita frequently worries over his project rejections, but she might not realize she's being drawn into the "conspiracy" herself.
Sunita described the year 2025 as deeply distressing for her personally, citing unsettling information about her husband that left her mentally exhausted and unhappy. She expressed disappointment that such controversies were surfacing at his age, deeming it inappropriate and damaging to the family's dignity. She hopes that wisdom and clarity will prevail, and that Govinda will finally realize the true value of family. Sunita also criticized the film industry's exploitative practices, alleging that some young aspirants seek financial backing from established actors while using these relationships as leverage, and resorting to pressure tactics and threats once their demands are met.
In other news, Govinda, a Shiv Sena leader, has shared his vision for Mumbai's development following the BJP-Shinde Sena alliance's win in the BMC elections. He emphasized the need for good governance and sustained progress for the city. Govinda expressed optimism about the positive atmosphere and the sense of security among artists under the current government. He stated that with effective governance, Mumbai's progress must remain the top priority. Govinda believes that artists now feel more secure, paving the way for unbridled innovation. He has been actively campaigning for the Shiv Sena, emphasizing development and infrastructure as key agendas.
The BJP emerged as the single-largest party, winning 89 seats, while its alliance partner, the Shiv Sena led by Eknath Shinde, secured 29 seats. Together, the BJP-Shiv Sena (Shinde) alliance emerged as the largest bloc in the civic body. Govinda's return to politics with the Shiv Sena occurred ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
