Karan Johar is reportedly preparing for his directorial comeback with a romantic drama after his last film, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023). According to reports, Alia Bhatt is slated to play the female lead in this upcoming venture. The search for the male lead has reportedly narrowed down to Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal, with both actors having been approached for the role. An official announcement regarding the casting is expected soon.

This film would mark Johar's third collaboration with Alia Bhatt, following Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani and Student of the Year. Johar's Dharma Productions has also backed multiple films led by Bhatt.

Notably, Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, and Vicky Kaushal are currently working together on Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Love & War, which is slated to release in March 2026. This film is described as a dramatic love triangle set against a wartime backdrop.

Love & War has already completed over 120 days of shooting on a massive set in Mumbai. Bhansali is reportedly planning to shoot the climax of Love & War in Sicily, Italy. The film is believed to be a passionate love story where Vicky and Ranbir play Army officers, set against a fictional war, exploring friendship and sacrifices made for love.

Alia and Vicky previously impressed audiences with their chemistry in Raazi (2018). Ranbir and Vicky shared the screen in Sanju (2018). Alia and Ranbir also worked together in Brahmastra (2022).
