Priya Kapur Responds to Unpaid Fees Allegations by Karishma's Daughter, Sharing Rs 95 Lakh Receipts.

The ongoing legal battle surrounding the estate of the late industrialist Sunjay Kapur has taken a new turn, with Sunjay's widow, Priya Kapur, disputing claims made by Karisma Kapoor's daughter, Samaira, regarding unpaid university fees. The dispute unfolded during a Delhi High Court hearing on November 21, 2025, where Samaira and her brother Kiaan have filed a plea against their stepmother, Priya, concerning the alleged inability to pay university fees.

According to Karisma Kapoor's lawyer, Mahesh Jethmalani, Samaira's university fees had been outstanding for two months. Samaira is currently studying in the United States, and her educational expenses were supposedly being covered by her late father, Sunjay Kapur.

Priya Kapur's legal team, led by lawyer Sheyl Trehan, vehemently refuted these claims in court. Trehan presented receipts indicating that Samaira's university fees, amounting to ₹95 lakh per semester, had already been paid. Furthermore, Priya's team asserted that the next installment was not due until December 2025. They labeled Karisma Kapoor's children's claims as a "publicity stunt".

The judge presiding over the case, Justice Singh, expressed displeasure with the escalating melodrama and urged both parties to maintain decorum. "I don't want to spend more than 30 seconds on this. This question should not come to my court again. I don't want this hearing to be melodramatic," Justice Singh stated.

The core of the legal battle revolves around the authenticity of Sunjay Kapur's will, which Karisma Kapoor and her children are contesting. They allege that Priya Kapur forged the will to exclude them from their rightful share of his estimated ₹30,000 crore estate. Priya's lawyers have challenged these claims, asserting the validity of the will and presenting evidence to support its legitimacy. They detailed the will's drafting, revision, and execution, supported by electronic metadata and affidavits from attesting witnesses.

Sunjay Kapur passed away in London in June 2025, sparking the ongoing legal dispute between his children from his marriage to Karisma Kapoor and his widow, Priya Sachdev Kapur. Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapur were married from 2003 to 2016 and have two children, Samaira and Kiaan. The Delhi High Court is scheduled to continue hearing the matter, with the focus expected to shift back to the central issue of the will's authenticity.
