Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao & Family Run Tata Mumbai Marathon: Supporting a Meaningful Cause Together.

Mumbai, January 19, 2026 – A wave of enthusiasm and philanthropic spirit swept through the Tata Mumbai Marathon this Sunday as Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, along with his former wife Kiran Rao, and their children, joined thousands of participants on the city's iconic route. The family participated under the banner of the "Home Run Squad," championing the cause of two foundations: Paani Foundation and Agatsu Foundation.

Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao, their son Azad Rao Khan, and daughter Ira Khan participated in the Dream Run (5.9 km), while Junaid Khan took on the Open 10K. Nupur Shikhare, Ira Khan's husband, ran the full marathon. The "Home Run Squad" aimed to raise awareness and support for Paani Foundation, which focuses on drought prevention and water conservation in Maharashtra, and Agatsu Foundation, an organization dedicated to promoting mental health and well-being.

Aamir Khan expressed his admiration for the city's spirit and acknowledged the challenges of Mumbai's air quality. When questioned about pollution, he responded, "Haan abhi kya kare? I know," while Kiran Rao emphasized the importance of civic engagement, urging citizens to "raise our voices, understand the causes, and do our bit as citizens to change the AQI in our city". Aamir echoed her sentiments, encouraging everyone to "contribute in a positive way".

The Paani Foundation aims to expand its reach across Maharashtra in 2026, collaborating with farmers to enhance their livelihoods. Agatsu Foundation has been working for five years to integrate mental health awareness into daily life, supporting individuals, families, and communities. Both foundations believe that long-term change is achievable when people take ownership of the solutions. Paani Foundation equips farmers with knowledge about the land, while Agatsu Foundation empowers individuals to understand their minds.

Aamir Khan credited his daughter Ira for inspiring his participation in the marathon. He was particularly touched by the energy and enthusiasm of differently-abled and senior runners. Several other celebrities were spotted at the Tata Mumbai Marathon, including Rahul Bose and Nikita Dutta, who participated in the Dream Run, and Dino Morea, who cheered on the participants. Vishal Bhardwaj and Rekha Bhardwaj participated in the Champions with Disability race category.

The Tata Mumbai Marathon continues to be a significant event, promoting fitness, inclusivity, and community spirit throughout Mumbai. The participation of Aamir Khan and his family has further amplified the message of social responsibility and the importance of supporting initiatives that create positive change.
